We just got home from a concert by the Mediaeval Baebes
in the Lady Chapel of Ely Cathedral. It was a superb setting for a wonderful evening. They said at one point that they had sung the Coventry carol in Coventry Cathedral last night and then tonight they were singing lots of songs about Mary in the Lady Chapel which made so much sense. My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and spent far too much on souvenirs. Glasses of wine could be bought during the interval which was a pleasant addition to the evening, we had a glass of sparkling white, lovely. The wines came from the cathedral cellars.
This was also the first time that we had been out without the children in a long time. The son of some friends from our new church did duty as the babysitter and seems to have worked out very well.
It seems a shame to have to go to bed now and bring the evening to an end.
